World Ensemble Drumming Class
In this 6 week program, students will learn to expand their percussion skills to working with traditional instruments of world percussion ensembles. More than just hand drums, students will learn to play a variety of world percussion instruments including stick drums, frame drums and hand percussion instruments. This class will cover techniques for playing many different types of instruments and will teach traditional rhythms in a cultural context. Each class series will explore 2 different cultural groups and will culminate in a recital for family and friends.
Prerequisite: Students must have taken a minimum of 3 basic hand drumming classes and have instructor approval to register.
This class is not designed for beginners nor open to the public and is offered only by instructor invite and approval. It is designed for students that have a working knowledge of ensemble consciousness and possess basic techniques for playing hand drums and is limited to 10 people.
