Drumming For Wellness

FunDrum Rhythm Circles offers Drumming for Wellness Programs and Workshops. A Drumming for Wellness Program would involve the patients, residents or other direct beneficiaries. A Drumming for Wellness Workshop is designed to expose other professionals in the health field to the concepts and practices of using group drumming as a wellness intervention. Workshops are ideal for clinical staff, caregivers, hospice workers and other wellness practitioners.

The Drumming for Wellness Workshop is a dynamic event that involves group music making using drums and other percussion instruments and exposes participants to the potential of recreational drumming as a wellness initiative. The program format is carefully designed to give participants an opportunity to learn about how drumming is being used with all kinds of groups: from Alzheimer's patients to people coping with addiction, and to experience the benefits of drumming for themselves. This workshop has been presented at several regional health conferences and is ideal for clinical staff, caregivers, hospice workers and other wellness practitioners.

The Drumming for Wellness Program offers a positive, engaging experience that builds skills and self-esteem. This program is designed for well and un-well elderly, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's patients, nursing home residents, and groups with disabilities. Playing drums and other instruments keeps participants focused while they express their creativity through making music. Group drumming offers a powerful antidote to stress and depression. It also has the power to inspire self-confidence, cooperation and creativity. Participants will create beautiful, spontaneous musical pieces using a variety of colorful and interesting percussion instruments. A variety of activities and rhythm games are used to build physical skills of playing instruments and reinforce basic rhythm concepts. Drumming for Wellness revives the spirit and has the potential to facilitate well-being among participants.
